History of Jakarta Golf Club
Jakarta Golf Club is the oldest course in Indonesia, first established in 1872 under the name Batavia Golf Club which was pioneered by A. Gray and TC Wilson and is located in the Gambir area, Jakarta. Over time, the course moved to the Rawamangun area in 1934 and changed its name to Jakarta Golf Club in 1950.
Currently, Jakarta Golf Cub stands on an area of 36 hectares and stretches for 5,875 yards from the black tee and consists of 18 holes 71 par. Jakarta Golf Club is open daily from 06:00 am to 18:00 pm, except on Mondays the course opens at noon.
Jakarta Golf Club is relatively short with a limited area. However, Jakarta Golf Club remains challenging with large trees guarding the fairway and placement of water barriers and bunkers on each hole to punish bad shots. Hole 2 par 4 with index 1 handicap is the hardest here.
Jakarta Golf Club may look easy due to its short length but the tight trees on the sides of the fairway, the many bunkers and the placement of water barriers make this course offers many challenges for all golfers of all abilities. Long hitters will rarely use drivers and only use 3 wood or two iron strokes to adjust their strokes on each par 4 and par 5.
