The formation of the Kingsbarns Golfing Society in 1793 began the village’s longstanding association with golf, with the golf course, laid on land leased from the Cambo Estate, which was in use until around 1850 when it was returned to the farm.
In 1922, the Kingsbarns Golf Club was founded, and a nine-hole course designed by Willie Auchterlonie laid out, but in 1939 the land was mined to prevent the Germans from landing on the beach.
Kingsbarns Golf Links is a course designation designed by architect Kyle Phillips, and developed by Mark Parsinnen. It opened in 2000 and has co-hosted the Dunhill Links European Tour Championships along with the Old Course at St Andrews and Carnoustie since 2001.
Kingsbarns hosted the St Andrews Trophy in 2007, the Jacques Léglise Trophy in 2008, and the Women’s British Open in 2017.
Today Kingsbarns Golf Links is one of the best golf courses in Scotland, and a place for golfers and tourists from all over the world to come. With excellent course quality, and excellent views, the main attraction of Kingsbarns Golf Links.
